Welcome to Saint Francis Lutheran Orthodox Church. We are a small congregation based in North Arlington, New Jersey sharing the Word of God as a group of family and friends.
The Lutheran Orthodox Church is a Lutheran order in valid Apostolic Succession. The church does not consider itself a Protestant denomination, but rather an Evangelical Catholic denomination, in the same manner that Martin Luther considered himself and his followers. A more accurate
description of this denomination would appropriately be described as Catholic Church-Lutheran Rite.
First and foremost, we are a Lutheran denomination in the Evangelical Catholic tradition, and as such, we have decided to return to a more formal worship setting. Our services are liturgical in setting, with pastors wearing formal vestments on most occasions. You may also notice that the services are very 'Catholic' in appearance, with the main focus being the altar, as opposed to the pulpit.
It is our desire here to introduce people to the Word of God. His offer of abundant life embraces all of these features through the peace and fellowship with God.
We are here to spread the Word and to help those in need. Life's journey is full of challenges and we need the guidance of God's light.
We invite you to experience God's love and forgiveness. You will be guided to discover that there is an awesome God that loves mankind.
